Renowned Bangladeshi actress Arifa Parvin Moushumi has turned 52, marking yet another milestone in a distinguished career that has spanned over three decades. Monday, 3rd October, saw the beloved star celebrate her birthday far from home, residing in the United States with her mother, daughter, and sister.
Moushumi, one of the most celebrated figures in Dhallywood, moved to New York in October 2023 and has not returned to Bangladesh since. For the third consecutive year, she is observing her birthday abroad. Despite her absence, her husband, actor Omar Sani, has reportedly arranged a special celebration in her honour back home.
Speaking about her prolonged stay in the US, Sani revealed that Moushumi’s mother has been unwell, which has prevented the actress from returning to Bangladesh. “Her priority right now is to take care of her mother,” Sani said, adding that family always comes first for her.
Moushumi rose to stardom in the 1990s, becoming one of the most admired actresses of her era. She captivated audiences with her performances in several superhit films, including Keyamat Theke Keyamat and Meyeti Ekhon Kothay Jabe. Over the years, she has also appeared in numerous television dramas, maintaining a strong presence across both film and TV.
Fans of the actress have taken to social media to express their admiration and send birthday wishes, organising various online events to celebrate her special day. Moushumi, however, has said that the occasion would have felt “more meaningful” had she been able to celebrate it in Bangladesh, surrounded by her colleagues and admirers.
