Patuakhali Madrasa Educator Arrested Following Child Sexual Abuse Allegations

A primary school educator based in the Dumki sub-district of Patuakhali has been taken into police custody on charges of sexually abusing a young student. The suspect was detained by members of the local community on Monday morning after the minor disclosed the traumatic event to family members, prompting swift public action and official police intervention.

The individual at the centre of the allegations, identified as Md Ibrahim, is employed as a teacher at a local madrasa situated in the Muradia Union under Dumki Upazila. According to reports gathered from local residents and authorities, the alleged offence occurred early on Monday within the confines of the educational facility.

Sequence of Events and Community Intervention

It is alleged that immediately following the assault, the accused attempted to coerce the child into silence through severe verbal intimidation and threats. Despite these attempts to conceal the crime, the minor managed to return home and courageously recounted the full details of the incident to their parents.

Upon being informed of the gravity of the assault, the victim’s guardians alerted neighbours and village leaders. A group of local residents subsequently confronted and detained Ibrahim at the site before contacting the Dumki Police Station to transfer custody of the suspect to law enforcement personnel.

Speaking to representatives after his apprehension, Md Ibrahim refuted the allegations in their entirety. The teacher asserted that he is completely innocent and claimed that the accusations stem from a deliberate conspiracy orchestrated by rival factions to frame him and destroy his standing in the region.

The police hierarchy in Dumki has confirmed that a formal criminal case is being compiled against the suspect. Md Selim Uddin, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dumki Police Station, verified that the department had secured the suspect and initiated statutory legal proceedings based directly on the grievance registered by the child’s family.

“The accused was handed over to us by local citizens, and we have received a formal complaint from the minor’s guardians,” declared Officer-in-Charge Md Selim Uddin. “We are handling this matter with the utmost seriousness. The victim is undergoing necessary medical evaluations, and our investigative team is gathering forensic evidence to ensure a thorough and lawful prosecution.”
