PM Launches E-Bailbond System

The Prime Minister, Tarek Rahman, has formally inaugurated the e-bail bond system at a court in Bogura, marking the introduction of a digital mechanism designed to streamline the transmission of bail orders from courts to prisons. The inauguration took place on Monday (20 April) at approximately 11:30 am from the Bogura court building.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by his spouse, Zubaida Rahman. Several senior officials were present at the ceremony, including the Law Minister Asaduzzaman, the Local Government State Minister Mir Shah Alam, and the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman.

The e-bail bond system is an online process through which bail bonds, once granted by a court, are transmitted directly and expeditiously to correctional facilities. The system is intended to reduce delays associated with manual paperwork, thereby ensuring quicker communication between judicial authorities and prison administrations following the approval of bail.

According to information presented at the event, the initiative has also been introduced simultaneously in several other districts alongside Bogura. These include Jhenaidah, Jashore, Magura, Rajshahi, Natore, and Kushtia. The expansion indicates a coordinated rollout of the system across multiple jurisdictions aimed at modernising bail-related administrative procedures.

Officials stated during the programme that the primary objectives of the initiative include simplifying the bail process, reducing procedural delays, and minimising opportunities for administrative irregularities. It was also noted that the system is expected to ease the burden on litigants who previously had to rely on time-consuming manual procedures for the transmission of bail documentation.

Prior to the inauguration of the e-bail bond system, the Prime Minister also unveiled the plaque of the newly constructed Bogura District Lawyers’ Association building. This was part of the official engagements undertaken during the visit.

The Prime Minister’s convoy arrived at the Bogura Circuit House at around 10:00 am on the same day. Subsequently, at approximately 11:00 am, he proceeded on foot from the Circuit House to the District and Sessions Judge Court premises, where the main event was held.

Bogura District and Sessions Judge Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Abdul Based stated that under the conventional system, the submission of bail bonds and the process of securing release from custody often involve multiple administrative steps. These procedures can lead to delays and cause inconvenience to service recipients. The introduction of the e-bail bond system is intended to reduce such delays by digitising and accelerating the transfer of bail orders from courts to prisons.
