Prime Minister to inaugurate ‘Notun Kuri’ on 2 May

The Prime Minister, Tarque Rahman, is scheduled to visit Sylhet for the first time since assuming office, with the programme now confirmed for 2 May following a revision of the earlier timetable. The visit date has been adjusted from the previously announced 30 April.

According to information provided by Khondkar Abdul Muktadir, Minister for Industry and Commerce and Member of Parliament for Sylhet-1, the schedule has been updated as part of the revised arrangements. He confirmed the change while speaking to journalists during his visit to Sylhet on Saturday (11 April).

The Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit is being closely prepared for by the relevant authorities. Officials have indicated that coordination efforts are underway to ensure the planned events proceed smoothly and according to schedule.

As per the updated itinerary, Tarque Rahman will inaugurate the dredging works of the Basia River in Bishwanath Upazila on the day of his visit. In addition, he is expected to attend the Sylhet District Stadium, where he will formally inaugurate the ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ programme.

It is also noted that Tarque Rahman began his electoral campaign from Sylhet on 21 January. Following the general election held on 12 February, in which he secured victory, he assumed office as the 11th Prime Minister of the country.
