Youth and Sports Secretary Mesbah Uddin told today that “we have taken various realistic projects to train youths for making them self-employed and also engage them in jobs.” He claimed that since 2009, the government has trained 67 lakh young people in a variety of trades that generate income, preparing them to work for themselves.

“Youth development is a constant training procedure. In the entire nation, the youth development department is providing training in 83 different trades “Mesbah said. Out of the 67 lakh trained youths, he claimed that 23 lakh have so far worked for themselves.

In order to extend the training program to the local level, the government, according to the ministry, has taken the initiative to build Sheikh Jamal Youth Training and Recreation Centers in each upazila. In order to provide employment opportunities for the NEET youth population, it was stated that the project “Economic Acceleration and Resilience for NEET (EARN)” had been adopted with World Bank financing.

Under the ‘project, the government will provide training to 20 lakh youths in five years, said the youth and sports secretary. The youth development department will impart skill development training to the NEET youths, of which, about 50 percent is female, he said, adding the training programme will be spread up to the union levels. Apart from this, 3rd phase of the IMPACT project has been adopted with the aim of making everyone a partner in building a better Bangladesh, Mesbah said.

According to him, the project would install 64,000 biogas plants during its duration, as opposed to the 31,000 eco-friendly biogas plants that were installed nationwide during the project’s first two phases. Savar’s Sheikh Hasina Youth Development Institute made unheard-of improvements to the caliber of its programs for young people’s development.

This institute will soon introduce activities linked to regional, national, and international youth meetings, youth exchanges, international seminars, and symposiums on youth concerns. A center of excellence for youth, the institute will also provide Ph.D., M. Phil, M.S., and certificate degrees in a variety of areas.

Additionally, Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium building is moving quickly through each upazila in the nation. Of those, 125 stadiums’ construction was finished, and work on another 186 stadiums is still ongoing for the current fiscal year. In addition, work is being done to get the DPP ready for the construction of 173 more stadiums. At a cost of about Tk 100 crore, renovation and modernization work are also being done at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
