The evening of Friday, 27 February 2026, witnessed a poignant reunion as Rabian Uttara, a dedicated fraternity of Rajshahi University (RU) alumni, hosted its annual Dua and Iftar Mahfil. The event, held at the sophisticated Raga Art Café in Uttara, served as a bridge between the nostalgic corridors of Motihar and the bustling professional lives of its graduates.
While Rabian Uttara is well-regarded for its year-round calendar of social and cultural initiatives, the Iftar Mahfil traditionally carries a unique atmosphere of spiritual reflection and communal bonding. This year was no exception, as the air was filled with a sense of “coming home” for those who once walked the greens of Bangladesh’s second-oldest university.

A Distinguished Gathering
The assembly saw a robust turnout of approximately 200 former students. These attendees represented a vast cross-section of society, including high-ranking government officials, acclaimed academics, media personalities, and successful entrepreneurs. The event was presided over by Habibur Rahman Sardar, President of Rabian Uttara, and seamlessly moderated by Selim Reza.
Several guest speakers took the floor to share brief yet evocative reflections on the importance of maintaining such alumni networks.

Legacy and Continuity
The speakers, including Shahidul Islam Bachchu and other senior leaders, lauded the organisers for their consistency. They noted that in an increasingly fast-paced world, Rabian Uttara has managed to sustain a tradition that fosters both professional networking and personal camaraderie. There was a shared sentiment of hope that this legacy would be carried forward by the younger generations of “Rabians.”
The formal proceedings concluded with a solemn Monaat (supplication), where prayers were offered for the prosperity of the nation and the continued success of the RU community. As the sun set, the members broke their fast together, sharing a meal that tasted remarkably of shared history and renewed friendships.
