Mymensingh Medical College Hospital has admitted 24 more children exhibiting symptoms of ham over the past 24 hours. These patients were taken into the hospital’s ham isolation ward between 9:00 am on Sunday and 9:00 am on Monday. At present, a total of 72 children are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According to hospital sources, since 17 March, 248 children have been admitted with suspected ham symptoms. Of these, 170 children have recovered and been discharged, while six children have unfortunately passed away. In the past 24 hours alone, 15 children have recovered and left the hospital.
The hospital has seen a gradual increase in cases since February, when one or two children were initially admitted with ham-like symptoms. From mid-March, the number of patients began to rise significantly, prompting the hospital to implement a dedicated response.
The hospital operates a 64-bed isolation ward for the treatment of ham patients. Three specialised medical teams have been deployed to manage and provide care for the affected children. As of Monday morning, laboratory tests have confirmed the presence of ham in 68 children.
Mohammad Mainuddin Khan, Assistant Director (Administration) of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, confirmed that there were no fatalities among patients in the past 24 hours up to 9:00 am today.
