Three Associates of Chattogram Crime Boss David Arrested

Three alleged associates of Chattogram-based crime figure Mobarak Hossain Emon, also known as David, have been arrested in a special operation by Jashore district police.

The arrests were made at around 3.45am on Wednesday, 29 July, in the Jhumpjhumpur area under Kotwali police station in Jashore. The operation was jointly conducted by nine teams from the District Detective Branch (DB) and Kotwali Model Police Station.

The three men arrested were Al Islam Alif, alias Tamal, 25, identified by police as an associate of David; Md Shamim, 28; and Md Safayet Hossain, 28.

According to Jashore district police, the arrests were carried out on the basis of a requisition from Chattogram district police. The police identified Mobarak Hossain Emon, alias David, 25, as a leading criminal figure in Chattogram and said the three arrested men were his associates.

Police said preliminary information suggested that David Emon and his associates had been attempting to flee to India through Jashore. The western district is strategically important for cross-border movement because of its proximity to Bangladesh’s border with India, making it a route that law-enforcement agencies closely monitor when suspects are believed to be attempting to leave the country.

The operation involved multiple police teams, indicating a coordinated effort to locate and detain the suspects. The timing of the raid, in the early hours of the morning, also reflects the police operation’s focus on apprehending the suspects at a location and time when they were believed to be present.

Following their arrest, the three men were handed over to Chattogram district police on Wednesday for further legal proceedings. The relevant authorities are expected to take action based on the allegations and cases associated with them.
