“Unknown body found in drain

Rajshahi, 25 January – An unidentified male body was recovered from a drain in the Bhata Para area of Rajshahi city on Sunday morning, sparking concern among local residents.

According to witnesses, the body was discovered at approximately 9:30 am near the north-western corner of the Central Botanical Garden and Zoo. Locals immediately informed the Rajpara Police, who promptly arrived at the scene and retrieved the body from the drain.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased is a man in his early fifties. Rajpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Malek stated that the body was positioned with the upper torso submerged inside the drain while the legs were protruding. “At this stage, we believe the individual may have accidentally fallen into the drain while attempting to urinate,” OC Malek noted. The police have launched an inquiry to ascertain the identity of the deceased. As part of legal procedure, the body has been sent to the Rajshahi Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination. The findings of the autopsy will determine the precise cause of death, following which appropriate measures will be taken.
