Visa Employees to Receive MetLife Insurance Coverage

In a strategic move to strengthen employee welfare in Bangladesh, Visa has signed a comprehensive insurance agreement with MetLife Bangladesh. The partnership ensures that Visa employees, along with their dependent family members, will gain extensive insurance protection covering accidents, disability, and death. Additionally, dependents will be eligible for in-patient, out-patient, and maternity coverage, providing a broad spectrum of healthcare and financial security.

The agreement was formally signed by Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager for Visa Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh. Both parties highlighted the importance of insurance coverage in fostering employee confidence, trust, and a sense of security in the workplace.

Recent findings from the Employment Benefit Trends Study (EBITS) underscore the relevance of such benefits. According to the survey, over 56% of employees reported that financial concerns reduce their productivity, while 41% linked financial stress to mental health challenges. Furthermore, 78% of respondents stated that access to wellness-related benefits, including insurance and mental health support, significantly increases their loyalty to the organisation.

Visa selected MetLife as its insurance partner due to the company’s proven track record in claims management, customised insurance solutions, advanced digital dashboards, cashless out-patient services, ambulance support, and rapid, hassle-free claim settlement. These features ensure both efficiency and reliability, crucial for maintaining workforce confidence.

Speaking on the partnership, Sabbir Ahmed said, “As a leading digital payments provider, our workforce is our most valuable asset. Comprehensive insurance coverage is essential to secure their financial well-being and overall welfare. With these benefits, employees can focus on their work with confidence and motivation, knowing they and their families are protected against life’s uncertainties.”

Ala Ahmad emphasised MetLife’s commitment to fostering safe and caring work environments: “This partnership with Visa reflects our shared dedication to providing robust and integrated insurance solutions that enhance employee welfare and workplace security.”

Visa operates in over 200 countries and regions, facilitating secure digital payments globally, while MetLife Bangladesh serves approximately one million individual customers and over 900 organisations. Notably, MetLife Bangladesh was recently recognised with the IDRA Insurance Excellence Award 2025, acknowledging the company’s leadership in operational efficiency, service quality, governance, claims management, and regulatory compliance.
