Warfaze Honoured Amid Concert Preparations

The Government of Bangladesh has announced the recipients of the 2026 Ekushey Padak, recognising outstanding contributions across diverse fields. This year, nine distinguished individuals and one institution have been selected for the country’s second-highest civilian honour. Among the institutions, the iconic Bangladeshi rock band Warfaze has earned a place, marking a historic moment for the nation’s music scene.

At the time the news reached Warfaze, the band was immersed in preparations for a major concert. On receiving the announcement, the members were visibly elated. Band leader Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu told Prothom Alo:

“We were rehearsing for a concert when this news arrived. We were overwhelmed with joy. It’s a feeling beyond words. Perhaps, Warfaze is the first band in Bangladesh to receive the country’s highest recognition in our field.”

Tipu also paid tribute to former members who contributed to the band’s journey. He said:

“Everyone who has been part of this journey shares in this award. From every member to every person behind the scenes, this achievement belongs to all. It is also a reflection of our families’ sacrifices. Without the support of our audiences and the media, our work would be meaningless. We are truly grateful.”
