Police in Siddhirganj, under Narayanganj, have arrested 18 individuals during a series of coordinated operations targeting narcotics, outstanding warrants, and various criminal allegations. The drive, conducted across multiple neighbourhoods, also led to the recovery of 500 grams of cannabis.
According to law enforcement officials, the special operation was carried out up to Sunday morning (10 May), focusing on several crime-prone areas within Siddhirganj and its surrounding localities. The arrested individuals face a range of allegations, including drug-related offences, theft, pending court warrants, and violations under the police act.
Police confirmed that six of the detainees were apprehended directly in connection with the possession of 500 grams of cannabis. In addition, one individual was arrested in a theft case, two others in connection with anti-discrimination cases, one person on the basis of a certified criminal warrant (C.R. warrant), while the remaining eight were detained under Section 34 of the police act for various offences.
Officials stated that the arrested suspects have been sent to court for further legal proceedings. The identities of the individuals include residents from several densely populated neighbourhoods such as Shimulpur, Sumilpara Bihari Camp, Adamjinagar, Kadamtoli, Noyati Mukti Nagar, and adjacent areas.

Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, Md. Emdadul Haque, said that operations against drugs and other criminal activities will continue without interruption. He emphasised that strict legal action is being taken against all offenders in an effort to maintain law and order in the area.
Authorities further noted that such drives are part of an ongoing initiative to curb narcotics trafficking and associated criminal networks in Narayanganj district. Police have also indicated that intelligence-based operations will be intensified in the coming weeks to ensure sustained pressure on organised and petty crime alike.
