Commuter Disruption as Express Train Derails in Comilla

Comilla’s Nangalkot Railway Station witnessed a disruption on Monday, 16 February 2026, when a coach of the Mahanagar Express derailed, temporarily halting train services on the Chittagong–Dhaka line.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm, as the express train journeying from Chittagong towards Dhaka approached Nangalkot Station. One of the train’s coaches went off the tracks, with all four wheels on both sides of the coach becoming derailed. The incident caused considerable inconvenience for passengers, with several being transferred to alternative transport to continue their journeys.

Nangalkot Station Master, Jamal Uddin, described the situation: “Four wheels of a single coach have derailed, creating a significant disruption for passengers. Our teams are working diligently to recover the affected coach and restore train operations as soon as possible.”

As a result of the derailment, services on the Chittagong–Dhaka lane have been suspended. Passengers have been advised to use other trains or buses while the recovery operations continue.
