
A 38-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a residential hotel in the Motijheel area of the capital on Wednesday morning, prompting an ongoing investigation by authorities.
The deceased, identified as Imran, was the son of the late Jalil Mollah from Khan Jahan Ali Upazila in Khulna district. According to initial reports, he had been staying at the Greenland Residential Hotel since Tuesday.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning when hotel staff reportedly discovered him lying unconscious on a staircase within the premises. He was immediately rushed by hotel employees to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. However, attending doctors declared him dead at approximately 8:50am.
Hospital sources confirmed that the body was later transferred to the morgue for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Law enforcement officials have also been informed, and the matter has been recorded at the concerned police station for further inquiry.
Hotel staff member Jahid stated that Imran checked into the hotel on Tuesday without any reported incident. He added that the guest was later found collapsed on the staircase on Wednesday morning, after which staff acted swiftly to take him to hospital.
Police officials from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital outpost confirmed the death and said that an investigation is underway. They noted that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and that the post-mortem report will be crucial in establishing whether the death resulted from natural causes, accidental fall, or any other factors.
At this stage, no official statement has confirmed foul play, though authorities have not ruled out any possibilities. Further investigation is expected to include reviewing hotel CCTV footage, collecting witness statements, and examining the deceased’s medical and travel history.
