The Bankers Club of Bangladesh Limited, the nation’s premier registered organisation for the banking fraternity, has announced the results of its highly anticipated executive committee elections. In a decisive vote held on Friday, 27 February 2026, Md. Rashed Akhtar was elected as the new President, while Rashid-un-Nabi secured the pivotal role of General Secretary. The newly formed committee is set to steer the club’s strategic direction for a two-year tenure (2026–2028).
Election Dynamics and Panel Performance
The electoral contest was primarily a battle between two dominant coalitions: the Bankers Oikya Parishad and the Sorbajonin Bankers Parishad. A total of 46 candidates across these panels, alongside one independent contender, vied for the leadership of the 2,000-strong membership base, which includes professionals from the central bank and all scheduled commercial banks.
The Bankers Oikya Parishad achieved a near-clean sweep, securing 19 key positions, including the presidency, general secretary, and organising secretary roles. In contrast, the Sorbajonin Bankers Parishad managed to capture the Social Welfare Secretary position and three seats within the Executive Member category.
