In Ishwardi, Pabna, a young man tragically ended his own life after being unable to cope with the death of his father. Alif Islam, aged 19, consumed poison and succumbed to his injuries on the night of Tuesday, 10 March, after several days of critical treatment in hospital.
According to local sources, Alif’s father, Tarikul Islam, passed away unexpectedly on 1 March due to a heart attack. Tarikul had been running a small tea shop in the Hospital Road area of Ishwardi for many years, serving as the primary breadwinner for his family. His sudden death cast a shadow of grief over the household, leaving family members distraught and struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Devastated by the loss of his father, Alif reportedly ingested poison in a desperate act of despair. Emergency responders transferred him immediately to a hospital in Dhaka, where he remained under intensive care. Despite receiving continuous medical attention for nearly ten days, Alif was unable to recover and passed away, leaving the family in deep mourning.
