E-Bike Gift for Resilient Rider

A delivery rider who has overcome significant physical adversity has received an electric bike from Foodpanda Bangladesh, a gesture aimed at supporting his livelihood and recognising his determination. The rider, Solaiman, who lost one of his legs in a childhood road accident, was presented with the e-bike during the company’s ‘Panda Rider Grand Iftar 2026’ event, organised to honour delivery partners during the holy month of Ramadan.

The ceremony took place recently at the Altaïr Convention Hall on Madani Avenue in Dhaka. The electric bike was formally handed over by Foodpanda Bangladesh’s co-founder and Managing Director, Ambarin Reza, along with Zubair B. A. Siddiky. Senior company officials, delivery partners, and invited guests attended the gathering, which combined recognition of riders’ contributions with a community-building event.

For Solaiman, the gift represents a significant improvement in his daily working conditions. Despite losing a leg at a young age in a tragic road accident, he refused to allow the setback to define his future. Determined to build an independent life, he continued his education and later entered the workforce. In recent years he has been working in Dhaka as a delivery rider for Foodpanda, often travelling long distances by bicycle to deliver meals across the city’s busy neighbourhoods.

Delivering food by bicycle, particularly in Dhaka’s demanding traffic conditions and unpredictable weather, can be physically taxing even for fully able riders. For Solaiman, the challenge was even greater. The introduction of an electric bike is expected to reduce the physical strain of his work while allowing him to complete deliveries more quickly and efficiently.

Expressing his gratitude, Solaiman said the assistance would make a meaningful difference to his life. He explained that cycling for long hours often became exhausting, especially when covering multiple delivery routes in a single day. With the e-bike, he anticipates improved mobility, greater comfort, and the ability to accept more orders, which could ultimately increase his earnings.

The ‘Panda Rider Grand Iftar 2026’ brought together around 500 delivery partners and guests from various zones across Dhaka. Beyond the ceremonial aspects, the event served as a platform for direct interaction between riders and senior management. Participants shared experiences from the field, discussed operational challenges, and highlighted areas where support from the company could be further strengthened.

The evening programme also featured a quiz competition, cultural performances, and a prize-giving ceremony. Several riders who had made notable contributions to the platform’s operations were recognised with special awards.
