The headteacher of Khepupura Girls’ Secondary School in Kalapara, Patuakhali, Md. Anwar Hossain, has been temporarily suspended following the widespread circulation of a video showing indecent and unethical behaviour on social media. The suspension order, signed on Sunday, 15 March, by Kalapara Upazila Executive Officer Kawsar Hamid, cited serious breaches of professional ethics and public decency. According to the notice, the video emerged online on 11 March, portraying actions that contravene societal norms and have provoked negative reactions among students, parents, and local residents.
In addition to the video controversy, Mr Hossain faces allegations of financial irregularities, abuse of authority, and professional misconduct. In response, local education authorities and the school’s governing body acted in accordance with the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Barishal, and Private Educational Institutions Governing Body and Managing Committee Regulations, 2024 (Section 54(1)).
While suspended, Mr Hossain will continue to receive his subsistence allowance. During this period, the day-to-day management of the school will be handled by Senior Assistant Teacher and Acting Deputy Head, Mohammad Mohsin Reza, who has been appointed Acting Headteacher to ensure uninterrupted academic and administrative operations.
