In response to a recent fuel price adjustment, the supply of petroleum products at depot level across the country has been increased from today, Monday (20 April), as part of efforts to address fuel-related supply pressures.
According to a notification issued by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), the allocation of fuel has been revised upward for distribution at depots nationwide. The decision has been taken to ensure smoother fuel availability following the recent revision in retail fuel prices.
Under the new allocation framework, diesel supply has been increased by 10 per cent, petrol by 10 per cent, and octane by 20 per cent. The revised distribution structure is intended to be implemented immediately from 20 April, with instructions issued to ensure necessary operational arrangements for sales and supply under the updated rates.
The directive was confirmed through an official order issued by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation on Sunday night (20 April). The notification was signed by BPC General Manager Ferdousi Masum Himaal, who authorised the revised supply allocation and instructed relevant departments to implement the changes without delay.
Prior to this supply adjustment, the government had revised retail prices of key petroleum products in line with movements in the international fuel market. The price increases affected diesel, kerosene, octane, and petrol at the consumer level.
The revised retail prices were set as follows: diesel increased by 15 taka per litre to 115 taka, octane increased by 20 taka per litre to 140 taka, petrol increased by 19 taka per litre to 135 taka, and kerosene increased by 18 taka per litre to 130 taka.
The updated pricing and supply measures are part of coordinated adjustments within the national fuel distribution system, which is overseen by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. The organisation is responsible for managing the import, storage, and distribution of refined petroleum products through its depot network across the country.
Revised Fuel Prices and Changes
| Fuel Type | Previous Price (BDT/litre) | New Price (BDT/litre) | Increase (BDT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diesel | 100 | 115 | 15 |
| Petrol | 116 | 135 | 19 |
| Octane | 120 | 140 | 20 |
| Kerosene | 112 | 130 | 18 |
The BPC notification also directed that all necessary arrangements be made at depot level to ensure the sale and distribution of fuel in accordance with the revised supply allocations effective from 20 April. The adjustments apply across the national distribution network, covering diesel, petrol, and octane supplies with the revised percentage increases specified in the order.
These measures form part of the routine administrative response to changes in fuel pricing and distribution requirements within the country’s petroleum supply system.
