A 32-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being attacked with sharp weapons in Chuadanga municipality. The victim, identified as Nayon Al Mamun, later reached a police station in a severely injured condition and was subsequently admitted to hospital for treatment. The incident has prompted an ongoing police investigation.
The attack occurred on Sunday night (26 April) in the area adjacent to the old stadium near the BADC intersection in Chuadanga town. According to information provided by family members and police, the victim managed to travel by motorcycle to the Chuadanga Sadar Police Station while bleeding heavily in order to seek immediate assistance. Police personnel then arranged for his transfer to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where he was admitted for emergency medical care.
Nayon Al Mamun is the son of Motiar Rahman from Dhingadah Bazarpara in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila. He is employed as a graphic designer. His family reported that he was travelling into Chuadanga town on a motorcycle with another person when the incident took place.
As they reached the vicinity of the old stadium on BADC Road, an altercation reportedly broke out with several unidentified individuals. The dispute escalated quickly, and Nayon Al Mamun was attacked with sharp weapons. He sustained multiple injuries during the assault. Despite his condition, he managed to ride a motorcycle to the police station to seek protection.
His elder brother stated that the identity of the attackers remains unknown and that the reason behind the attack has not yet been established. He added that the victim did not recognise those involved in the incident. The family has also indicated that arrangements are being made to transfer him to either Rajshahi or Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.
Police have confirmed that the injured man arrived at the station in a critically wounded condition. Officers immediately ensured his medical treatment at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman stated that the circumstances surrounding the attack are being investigated and that police have already spoken with the victim in hospital.
He further noted that instructions have been given to file a formal case and that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. The investigation remains ongoing.
