The dismembered remains of a Saudi Arabian expatriate, who was allegedly murdered by his extramarital partner and her accomplices in the capital city, have been formally handed over to his grieving family members. On Monday afternoon, 18 May 2026, the local authorities concluded the primary forensic procedures and released the victim’s body to his relatives. The grim discovery has sparked widespread sensation across the metropolitan area since the initial police response over the weekend.
At approximately 4:30 pm on Monday, Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Abu Raihan of the Mugda Police Station officially transferred the recovered anatomical sections of the deceased to his first cousin, identified as Rifat. The victim, identified as Mokarram, was a long-term migrant worker who had recently returned to Bangladesh from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Crime Scene Discovery and Recovery Operations
According to the official investigation log, Mokarram was murdered on Thursday, 14 May 2026, within a residential apartment located in the Manda neighbourhood of Mugda, Dhaka. Following an intensive investigation, personnel from the law enforcement agencies located the initial crime scene on Sunday, 17 May. Investigators searched the basement of a residential building known as “Shahnaz Villa”, located at House 260/1 on Abdul Karim Road in the first alleyway of Manda.
During the initial phase of the recovery operation on Sunday, police officers extracted seven distinct portions of the victim’s torso and limbs from the basement premises. However, the head was notably missing from the immediate recovery site. Providing details of the subsequent tracking operation, SI Abu Raihan stated that a specialised team conducted a continuous search of the surrounding vicinity throughout the night. At approximately 2:30 am on Monday, investigators successfully located and recovered the missing head from a nearby garbage dump, bringing the total number of recovered body parts to eight.
Speaking to members of the press upon receiving the remains, the victim’s cousin Rifat stated that Mokarram had worked tirelessly in Saudi Arabia for a prolonged duration to support his family.
“My brother spent years abroad as an expatriate. He came back to his home country only to be subjected to this horrific murder. We have formally accepted his remains from the police administration, and we are transporting him to our ancestral village. Following the formal funeral prayers, he will be laid to rest in our family graveyard,” Rifat added.
Mokarram was the son of Sohrab Miah, originally hailing from the Ashuganj Upazila of Brahmanbaria district. He is survived by his wife and two young sons.
Elite Force Reveals Coordinated Murder Plot
In a concurrent development, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) released a detailed briefing regarding the underlying motives and the specific individuals involved in the execution of the homicide. According to the elite force, the murder was directly driven by an extramarital affair between the deceased and a woman identified as 31-year-old Taslima Akhter, who also used the alias Hasna.
The institutional investigation conducted by RAB-3 revealed that Taslima Akhter, alongside her close associate, 40-year-old Helena Begum, and Helena’s 13-year-old minor daughter, collectively planned and executed the killing. After terminating the victim’s life, the three individuals systematically severed his body into eight pieces, subsequently concealing the remains in separate polythene sacks before dispersing them across different locations to destroy judicial evidence.
Following an intelligence-led operation, a specialised team of RAB-3 apprehended the principal co-accused, Helena Begum, along with her 13-year-old daughter. The arrested mother and daughter are permanent residents of the Nondorampur area under the Narsingdi Sadar Upazila. Law enforcement officials confirmed that while two of the suspects are currently in custody, the primary partner, Taslima Akhter, remains at large. Multiple police and elite units are conducting ongoing raids across the country to secure her immediate arrest and produce her before the court.
