Five Killed in Bogura Motorcycle Crashes

Five young men lost their lives in two separate motorcycle accidents in Bogura over the Eid holiday period, with the fatal incidents occurring on Eid day and the following day. The accidents involved multiple motorcycles and resulted in several casualties, turning what had been a festive occasion into a period of mourning for the victims’ families.

Two Friends Killed on Eid Night

The first accident took place at approximately 8:45 pm on Thursday, 28 May, in the Shuvogacha area along the Sherpur–Dhunat regional road. The collision involved three motorcycles and claimed the lives of two close friends, Abu Raihan, 20, and Tamim Hossain, 20.

According to local residents, the friends had gone out for a motorcycle ride on Eid day. During the journey, their motorcycle was involved in a head-on collision with another speeding motorcycle. Moments later, a third motorcycle travelling from behind struck the vehicles involved, resulting in a three-way crash.

Abu Raihan died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Tamim Hossain was taken towards hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Four other individuals were injured in the incident.

Three More Friends Die the Following Day

Less than twenty-four hours later, another fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Bogura. On Friday, 29 May, at approximately 6:15 pm, a head-on collision between two motorcycles took place in the Baromail area of Kahalu.

The crash resulted in the deaths of three friends from Naogaon district: Rahim, 21, Apurov, 18, and Prem, 20.

Eyewitnesses reported that the motorcycle carrying the three young men was being ridden at a very high speed despite rainy weather conditions. They also stated that the motorcycle’s silencer had been modified, producing a loud noise. According to witnesses, the motorcycle was moving in a zigzag manner on the wet and slippery road.

At one stage, it collided head-on with a motorcycle travelling from the opposite direction. The impact was severe, and all three young men died at the scene.
