Young Woman Found Hanging Sirajganj

A 22-year-old woman, identified as Sabia Khatun, was found hanging at her family residence in Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday morning, in an incident that has prompted widespread concern in the local community. Police recovered the body from a house in Nadoseyadpur Bahirpara village under Magura Binod Union.

According to police and local sources, the deceased was the daughter of Shafiqul Islam, a resident of the same village. The discovery was made after family members reportedly failed to receive any response from Sabia despite repeated calls for her to come for a meal on Saturday night. After prolonged silence, they entered her room and found her body hanging from a ceiling beam with a rope around her neck. The matter was immediately reported to neighbours and subsequently to the police.

Officers from Tarash Police Station arrived at the scene early Sunday morning, recovered the body, and completed necessary initial procedures. The remains were later sent to Sirajganj Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities stated that the findings of the autopsy will be crucial in confirming the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Preliminary information suggests that Sabia had recently gone through a divorce and had been staying at her parental home. Local accounts indicate that she may have been experiencing emotional distress linked to personal and family-related issues. However, police emphasised that no conclusive determination can be made until the post-mortem report and full investigation are completed.

Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Habibur Rahman confirmed the recovery of the body and stated that the case has been recorded as an unnatural death. He added that all possible angles are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation, and no final conclusion has yet been drawn regarding the cause or circumstances of death.
