Rinku Sees No Musical Comeback

Bangladeshi folk singer Moshiur Rahman Rinku, widely known through the music competition Closeup One, has said he does not believe he will be able to return to the music industry after suffering four strokes. The singer, who has been away from professional music activities for an extended period, recently spoke about his health condition, career and personal experiences in the travel documentary Pather Golpo.

Rinku explained that his declining health has significantly affected his ability to resume his musical career. He said he is currently spending his time quietly at his village home and does not see a realistic possibility of returning to music in the way he would wish.

Discussing his condition, Rinku stated that he has suffered four strokes, including incidents that were not widely known to the public at the time. According to him, the cumulative impact of these health complications has led him to accept that a full return to professional music is unlikely.

He said that he has no desire to make a partial comeback and would only consider returning if he could do so at the level he expects of himself as an artist. Rinku added that if he cannot return fully, he sees little reason to return at all. At the same time, he expressed a wish that his songs continue to be preserved and appreciated by listeners in the future.

The folk singer also reflected on personal relationships and the support he has received during his illness. He said that he now finds greater companionship among people in rural communities and described their affection as sincere and enduring. He contrasted this with his experience of relationships in urban settings, where he believes many connections were linked to practical interests rather than lasting personal bonds.

Rinku noted that many individuals who were once close to him are no longer in contact. However, he emphasised that he is not seeking sympathy from anyone and that any assistance he provided to others in the past was given voluntarily.

In his recent comments, the singer reiterated that his physical condition remains the primary obstacle to any return to performing. While he acknowledged the enduring presence of his recorded work, he indicated that a full-scale return to music is not something he currently expects to achieve. For now, he continues to spend his time in his village community, where he says the support and companionship of local residents have become an important part of his life.
