Country Being Pushed Towards Division in the Name of Religion: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that although the people of the country are religious, they do not believe in dividing the state through religion. He alleged that a group is trying to pave the way for division by using religion as a tool.

He made the statement on Sunday (7 December) at the inauguration of the BNP’s programme titled “Plan for Building the Nation” at the Krishibid Institution auditorium.

He said that after 15 years, an opportunity has been created for democracy to return, but many challenges still stand in the way. He claimed that the BNP is facing propaganda attacks and warned that vigilance is needed against cyber warfare. He asserted that the BNP is the only force capable of taking the country forward.

Mirza Fakhrul also commented that institutions destroyed during the tenure of the Awami League must be rebuilt.

He said the mindset of the youth has changed significantly and that people are demanding change in every sector. According to him, the vision of a new Bangladesh has emerged among the people, and the old model of the state structure is no longer effective. He added that he aims to prepare the BNP based on new ideas.

Speaking about Khaleda Zia’s illness, the BNP secretary general said all necessary measures are being taken for her treatment. He said Tarique Rahman is personally supervising the treatment process, with specialist doctors from both national and international levels involved. He added that with the prayers of so many people, the Creator will surely grant relief.
