“A new tune, a new concert — Chircut’s 24-year journey”

Dhaka, 13 January 2026 – The legendary Bangladeshi band Chirkut is set to celebrate 24 years of musical excellence with a series of new releases and live performances, continuing their journey as one of the country’s most influential contemporary music groups.

The band recently received the prestigious Best Band Award for the third time at the 25th Dhallywood Film & Music Awards, held on Friday. The award recognised their hit song “Dami” from last year’s album “Bhalobashasomogro”. Founder and frontwoman Sharmin Sultana Sumi accepted the award on stage, accompanied by the full band.

Speaking about the accolade, Sumi said,
“This recognition for our song ‘Dami’ from the album ‘Bhalobashasomogro’, which featured ten new tracks in 2025, is a testament to our dedication. After 24 years of creating music and exploring new melodies and lyrics, such achievements inspire every member of Chirkut to continue pushing boundaries.”

Reflecting on the band’s two-decade journey, Sumi added,
“Chirkut has always sought innovation in music. As an institution, we have supported our members year after year, providing a platform to experiment with new sounds. Our band has become a creative hub for many musicians, and whenever our music resonates with people’s joys, sorrows, or struggles, we feel immense pride. Performing Bangla music alongside the world’s top bands abroad fills our hearts with gratitude and love for our country. We aspire to remain ‘Chirkut of Love’ in the hearts of all.”

Looking ahead, the band has already been working on their fifth studio album and plans to maintain an active schedule of concerts both domestically and internationally throughout the year. Next year, they are planning a grand ‘Silver Jubilee’ celebration to commemorate 25 years of music, promising an unforgettable experience for fans.
