In Belab Upazila of Narsingdi, the body of a missing poultry businessman was recovered from a pond three days after he disappeared. According to local police and family sources, the deceased has been identified as Azimul Qader Bhuiya, aged 45, son of the late Mannan Bhuiya of Bir Baghber village in Baznaba Union. Azimul was a former General Secretary of the Union Chhatra League and also served as Joint General Secretary of the Upazila Chhatra League.
Police and relatives reported that on Tuesday evening, Azimul was present at his poultry farm. He left the farm around 8:00 pm and failed to return home. Despite exhaustive searches at various locations, his family could not locate him and subsequently filed a General Diary (GD) of his disappearance at Belab Police Station the following day.
Recovery and Investigation:
On Thursday night at approximately 9:00 pm, local residents spotted a body in a nearby pond. Acting swiftly, police reached the scene and retrieved the body. After documenting the scene in a preliminary report, the body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for further examination. According to Officer-in-Charge SM Aman Ullah of Belab Police Station, the deceased had visible injuries on his ears and feet, indicating possible foul play.
The family has disclosed that about two weeks prior to the disappearance, Azimul had hired two new workers at his poultry farm, one of whom is known by the nickname Rubel. Both workers reportedly went missing along with all the chickens from the farm following Azimul’s disappearance. The family suspects a connection between the businessman’s death and the sudden disappearance of the workers.
Authorities in Narsingdi are continuing a thorough investigation. Police are actively searching for the missing workers and are determined to establish the exact circumstances and cause of Azimul’s death. The incident has cast a shadow of fear and grief over the local community.
