The country’s General Insurance has compensated Max Group for the Cargo Village fire.

Desh General Insurance Company Limited has disbursed compensation to Max Group following losses sustained in a fire at the Cargo Village of Shahjalal International Airport.

According to an official statement issued on Thursday, the insurance company settled two marine cargo claims filed by Max Group, with the total compensation amounting to BDT 16,34,276. The payment was processed after the company received all necessary documentation and completed the required survey reports.

On Sunday, Desh General Insurance’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohammadí Khanom, formally handed over the claims cheque to Md. Mahmud Husein, Deputy General Manager (Corporate Finance) of Max Group, in a small ceremony attended by senior officials from both organisations.

“Throughout the past year, Desh General Insurance has prioritised customer interests and consistently settled claims across various insurance categories,” the statement said. “In the previous financial year, the company disbursed approximately BDT 1.8161 crore in insurance claims.”

The event was also attended by Md. Ziaul Haque, Head of Claims and Reinsurance at Desh General Insurance, alongside Max Group officials including Md. Shahidul Islam Khan, Khaled Bin Hossain (DGM, Technical), and Engr. Rahad Ahmed Ruman.

Mohammadí Khanom emphasised, “Our primary commitment is to ensure that customer claims are settled promptly and fairly. By maintaining the highest standards of honesty and professionalism, we aim to strengthen public trust in the insurance sector.”

She further added that Desh General Insurance will continue providing customer-friendly insurance services, playing an active role in the sustainable development of the country’s insurance industry.
