A K M Ehsanul Haque: Four Decades of Contribution to the Insurance Sector

A K M Ehsanul Haque is a distinguished professional in Bangladesh’s insurance industry. He completed his postgraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Dhaka, graduating in April 1977. On 5 July 1977, he moved to Dubai, UAE, to take up a work opportunity.

His first day was filled with excitement and emotion. His father accompanied him to the airport, and he departed via Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Upon arrival at Dubai International Airport five hours later, he experienced the city’s dry desert climate with a temperature of around 40°C.

His initial professional experience was with the UK-based M/s. Legal & General Assurance Society Ltd., where he joined as an insurance assistant. Within three months, his performance led to confirmation as a permanent employee, providing him with invaluable exposure to professional practices in the insurance sector.

After spending nearly four decades in Dubai, he returned to Dhaka in December 2014. He witnessed Dubai’s remarkable transformation, including its modern airport, advanced transport systems, and other state-of-the-art facilities.

In 2007, he joined Dubai Properties Group (DPG) as an Insurance Manager, contributing to major projects such as Jumeirah Beach Residence and Business Bay. He retired in 2014 and returned to Dhaka with extensive experience and knowledge gained over decades in Dubai.

He has earned several international certifications, including:

• AIRM, The Institute of Risk Management (2001)

• ACII and Chartered Insurance Practitioner (CII), The Chartered Insurance Institute (2006)

• ACIArb, The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (2009)

• FCII, The Chartered Insurance Institute (2011)

He has authored 13 books on various insurance topics, published in Bengali and English. His career and achievements serve as an inspiration for the younger generation in the insurance field.
