In Noakhali, a 15-year-old student, Mahbub Elahi Rojin, has sat for the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from within a prison facility while facing a murder case. Despite being in custody, the juvenile examinee has been allowed to participate in this important public examination under special judicial permission.
The examination commenced at 10:00 am on Tuesday (21 April) with the Bengali First Paper, marking the beginning of his SSC assessments. Rojin is a resident of Kashipur village under Noannoi Union in Noakhali Sadar Upazila and is a student of Noannoi High School.
According to police and local sources, Rojin was initially placed at a juvenile correctional centre in Gazipur following his alleged involvement in a murder case. Subsequently, upon consideration of his application, the court of the Senior Judicial Magistrate in Noakhali granted him permission to sit for the SSC examinations.
Following this judicial order, arrangements were made for him to sit the examination from within a secure facility. Although his designated examination centre is Noakhali Zilla School, the test is being administered under special arrangements inside a prison environment due to legal and security considerations. The examination process is being conducted under the supervision of the Zilla School centre authority.
The prison administration confirmed that the candidate remains under custody and is being facilitated solely for examination purposes. Authorities also stated that subsequent examinations will be conducted under the same arrangement, in accordance with court directives.
Noakhali Jail Superintendent A. Barek stated that Rojin, who was previously held at the Gazipur Juvenile Correctional Centre in connection with a murder case, has been brought to Noakhali exclusively to take part in the SSC examination. He further confirmed that the same procedure will be followed for the remaining papers.
