Four members of a family were killed in Naogaon’s Niamatpur upazila on Monday night (20 April), while three bodies were recovered from a remote hilly area in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on Tuesday morning (21 April).
Naogaon: Four Members of a Family Killed
In Bahadurpur village under Bahadurpur Union in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon district, four members of the same family were found dead in their home on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman (35), his wife Popi Khatun (30), their son Parvez Hossain (10), and daughter Sadiya Khatun (3).
According to local sources, Habibur Rahman’s father, Nomer Hossain, noticed blood near the door of the house early Tuesday morning. Upon entering the room, he discovered the bodies of all four family members lying on a bed covered with a sheet. Following his alarm, local residents gathered at the scene and informed the police.
Police stated that Habibur Rahman worked as a cattle trader. He had returned home around 8 pm on Monday after selling cattle at Choubaria cattle market in Manda. He was reportedly carrying approximately 280,000 Bangladeshi Taka from the sale. Authorities suspect that the attack may have been carried out for robbery purposes. Gold ornaments from the house were also reportedly stolen, including earrings belonging to Popi Khatun.
The Officer-in-Charge of Niamatpur Police Station confirmed that Habibur Rahman and his wife were killed by having their throats slit, while the children were killed by blows to the head. Initial findings suggest that the perpetrators may have entered the house to commit robbery and later killed the victims to avoid identification.

Police confirmed that all three bodies were recovered in a blood-stained condition. According to preliminary assessments, the victims may have been abducted during the night or early hours before being killed.
