Doctors must confirm Khaleda Zia’s fitness before she is flown to London

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has confirmed that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be moved to London for further treatment once her medical team determines she is fit to travel. Fakhrul made the statement on Friday afternoon outside the party’s central office at Nayapaltan in Dhaka.

He explained that if the air ambulance from Qatar arrives as scheduled, Khaleda Zia could be taken to England the following day. “She is still in a critical condition. It will be possible to take her only if the doctors confirm she is fit to travel by air,” he said.

Fakhrul emphasised that Khaleda Zia is under the supervision of leading medical specialists from both national and international teams. The decision to move her abroad was made because her doctors believe she requires more advanced treatment than what is available locally. “The doctors believe she needs more advanced treatment, which is why the decision has been taken to move her to a hospital in England,” he added.

The BNP leader also urged the public to respect privacy and avoid speculation while Khaleda Zia remains under critical care. The timing of her overseas transfer will ultimately depend on her medical stability and the assessment of her healthcare team.
