Features of the Qatar-Provided Air Ambulance for Khaleda Zia

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is due to be transported to London on Tuesday, 7 January, for advanced treatment. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has indicated that she may be taken to London on Sunday, 7 December.

A statement posted at 10:00 am on Friday, 5 December, by the BNP Media Cell on Facebook stated that the special air ambulance dispatched by the Amir of Qatar has not yet arrived, resulting in a delay in Khaleda Zia’s planned transfer.

Mirza Fakhrul noted that the air ambulance will not arrive on Friday, 5 December, due to technical faults. He mentioned that, subject to normal conditions, the aircraft may land on Saturday.

The air ambulance from Qatar is a high-speed Airbus A-319 configured as a dedicated medical aircraft. It effectively functions as a flying hospital, fitted with sophisticated medical facilities.

The aircraft includes several specialised features. It is equipped with cutting-edge medical devices essential for managing all emergency treatment scenarios, such as ventilators, defibrillators, monitors, infusion pumps and a full range of emergency medicines. The air ambulance also contains a complete ICU setup.

It has all the support required to keep a patient stable in critical circumstances. The medical team on board consists of highly skilled doctors and nurses capable of providing appropriate clinical care.

Furthermore, the aircraft’s interior is designed for comfort, with a separate spaces for the patient and accompanying family members. This specialised air ambulance operates as a fully self-contained unit, capable of meeting all patient needs even on long-distance air travel.
