A fire broke out in a high-rise building in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the city’s Fire Service. Five fire units were deployed to the scene, successfully bringing the blaze under control within half an hour.
The Fire Service received the report of the fire at 3:04 pm, according to Rozina Akter, the duty officer at the Fire Service control room. “A fire was reported in a multi-storey building in Bijoynagar at 3:04 pm,” she said. “Five units immediately proceeded to the location, and the fire was fully brought under control by around 3:30 pm.”
The blaze reportedly originated on the 9th floor of the ten-storey building. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, initial reports indicate that there were no immediate casualties. The extent of property damage is also under assessment.
Fire Service officials emphasised that quick action by the responding units played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading to other floors or neighbouring buildings.
