Hridoy, Shariful Gain ICC Ranking Boost

Bangladesh players have made notable progress in the latest ICC men’s T20I rankings following their performances in the recent three-match series against New Zealand, where the second match was abandoned due to rain. Individual contributions from both batters and bowlers have been reflected in updated standings released after the series.

Bangladesh middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy emerged as the standout performer in the series, scoring 84 runs across two innings. He registered a half-century in the opening match and followed it with a 33-run knock in the third and final game. His consistency earned him the Player of the Series award. As a result, he has moved up two places to 37th in the ICC T20I batting rankings.

Captain Liton Das also registered improvement in the rankings. After scoring 26 runs in the final match in Mirpur, he climbed one position to 52nd in the batting chart. At the top of the batting rankings remains India’s opener Abhishek Sharma, who continues to hold the number one spot.

Bangladesh’s bowling unit also benefitted from strong performances in the series. Spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz, recognised for his disciplined and controlled spells, has moved up one place to 17th in the ICC T20I bowling rankings.

The most significant rise came from left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam, who jumped nine places to reach 54th position. His ability to deliver breakthroughs in crucial moments and maintain economical bowling figures during the series contributed directly to his substantial rise in the rankings.

Meanwhile, fellow left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman slipped one place to 12th after missing the New Zealand series.

From the opposition, New Zealand pacer Ben Sears climbed ten places to 51st following his performances in the series. Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi also moved up four places to 88th. Sodhi, who has taken 165 wickets in T20 internationals, remains New Zealand’s leading wicket-taker in the format.
