Meghdol and Chandrabindoo Unite

The Bangla music scene is set for a landmark moment as two widely admired bands—Meghdol from Bangladesh and Chandrabindoo from India—prepare to share the same stage for the first time. The joint performance will take place on 5 September in Kolkata, marking a significant cultural collaboration between two groups that have independently shaped contemporary Bengali band music across borders.

Organised by the talent management and events company Talent Wall, the concert has been titled “Megh Melle Chhade”, a poetic expression symbolising the creative convergence of the two bands. According to the organisers, further details regarding the exact venue and associated arrangements will be announced in due course. Anticipation among fans has already been building, with the event being widely viewed as a rare cross-border musical celebration.

Meghdol’s lead vocalist and lyricist, Shibu Kumar Shil, described the opportunity to perform alongside Chandrabindoo as an honour for the band. He noted that despite originating from different geographical and cultural settings, both groups share a similar musical sensibility and artistic outlook. He further added that Chandrabindoo’s music had served as an inspiration for Meghdol since their student years, reflecting the influence of the Indian band on younger Bangladeshi musicians.

Shil also hinted at Meghdol’s broader performance plans in West Bengal, mentioning that the band is preparing for a series of concerts in multiple cities across the region. He emphasised that Kolkata audiences have consistently shown strong appreciation for Meghdol’s work, which continues to motivate their creative journey.

Alongside live performances, Meghdol remains active in studio and film-related projects. The band has recently recorded a new track for filmmaker Mezbaur Rahman Sumon’s upcoming film “Rayed”, which is expected to be released early next month. In addition, Meghdol is preparing to release the final three songs from their third album “Aluminium-er Dana”. These tracks—“Carnival”, “Bagh”, and “Tar Kothay Khunji Pai”—are scheduled for release soon, completing the album’s rollout.

The band recently performed at a solo concert at Yamaha Flagship Centre in Dhaka during the Pohela Boishakh celebrations, where they received an enthusiastic response from the audience. Meghdol is also planning a series of solo concerts across several divisional cities in Bangladesh, beginning with Barishal.
