Tanjia Zaman Mithila is representing Bangladesh at the 74th edition of the prestigious Miss Universe competition in Thailand, competing against contestants from 121 countries. She has already gained attention by rising to the top in the ‘People’s Choice’ voting.
According to the official Facebook page of Miss Universe Bangladesh, by 8 PM on 12 November, Mithila had secured 192,313 votes in the ‘People’s Choice’ category, placing her third. As the night progressed, she advanced to second place. By 9 AM on 13 November, it was reported that she required an additional 50,000 votes to reach first place. Voting will continue until 19 November.
Mithila is also leading in several other categories: she is first in ‘Best National Costume’, second in ‘Miss Congeniality’ and ‘Best Evening Gown’, and third in ‘Best Skin’. Currently, she is in Pattaya preparing for the next rounds of the competition.
On her Facebook page, Mithila confirmed her second-place position and expressed gratitude to her supporters, urging them to vote for her to advance on the Miss Universe stage as Bangladesh’s representative.
Mithila also told a media outlet, “When I heard I was third in the vote on Tuesday night, I could hardly believe it. I was overwhelmed with emotion seeing the love from my countrymen. While the judges’ decisions are crucial, the support and votes from the people of Bangladesh are my greatest motivation.”
