According to the latest measles-related bulletin issued by the health authorities, 1,341 new cases of children presenting with measles-like symptoms were reported nationwide during the same 24-hour period. In addition, 65 children have died following confirmed diagnosis of measles during the same period. This brings the total number of deaths to 415 since 15 March.
Health data also indicates a substantial number of suspected cases during this period. Since 15 March, symptoms consistent with measles have been recorded in 50,500 children nationwide. Out of these, 35,980 children were admitted to hospital for treatment. A significant proportion of these patients have recovered, with 31,992 children discharged in stable condition following treatment.
Furthermore, confirmed measles infections have been identified in 6,937 children since 15 March, as recorded in official surveillance data.
Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that primarily affects children and is characterised by symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, inflamed eyes, and a widespread skin rash. Health authorities routinely monitor suspected cases alongside laboratory-confirmed infections in order to assess the broader public health situation.
The Directorate General of Health Services continues to compile and publish daily updates on measles-related hospital admissions, recoveries, deaths, and confirmed infections as part of ongoing national surveillance efforts.
