A 17-year-old boy from Shariatpur was killed and two others were injured in a motorcycle accident in Kuakata, Patuakhali, on Monday morning.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:30am on 1 June on the Marine Drive Road in Kuakata, a coastal tourist destination in southern Bangladesh.
The deceased was identified as Jisan, 17, son of Amir Hossain of Kashavog (Kashapur) village under Palang Police Station in Shariatpur district.
According to local sources, Jisan and several friends had travelled from Shariatpur to Kuakata by motorcycle for a leisure trip. At the time of the accident, they were riding along the Marine Drive Road towards Lemburbon, a well-known tourist spot in the area.
Witnesses said the accident occurred when a woman was crossing the road. In an apparent attempt to avoid hitting her, the motorcycle rider lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle subsequently crashed into a tree beside the road.
The collision left all three occupants of the motorcycle seriously injured.
Local residents rushed to the scene and rescued the victims before taking them to Tulatoli Hospital for treatment. Upon arrival, the attending physician declared Jisan dead.
The two other injured individuals were admitted to hospital and remain under treatment. No further details regarding their identities or medical conditions were immediately available.
Mahipur Police Station Investigation Officer Animesh Halder confirmed the death of the teenager. He stated that an investigation was underway to determine the precise circumstances and cause of the accident.
He added that the necessary legal procedures were also being carried out in connection with the incident.
