Teenage Girl Dies from Electric Shock

A tragic incident in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila has claimed the life of a 13-year-old schoolgirl after she was electrocuted while attempting to charge her mobile phone at home. The incident occurred at around 10:00 pm on Saturday in the Bhubaner Bari area of Ward No. 6 under Charfakira Union.

The deceased, identified as Aditi Rani Das, was the daughter of Gopal Chandra Das of the same locality. She was a sixth-grade student at Charfakira High School. Her untimely death has cast a pall of grief over the community, with local officials confirming the incident and police initiating legal formalities.

According to the acting chairman of Charfakira Union Parishad, Mizanur Rahman, the girl was plugging in her mobile phone charger when she was accidentally electrocuted. The sudden electrical shock caused her to be thrown onto the floor. Family members immediately rushed to her aid and attempted to take her to the Upazila Health Complex, but she reportedly died on the way.

Police from Companiganj Police Station later visited the scene following reports of the incident. Officer-in-Charge Nurul Haque confirmed that an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident. No signs of foul play have been reported at this stage, and authorities are treating the matter as a domestic electrical accident.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over electrical safety in rural households, particularly regarding the use of low-quality chargers, exposed wiring, and inadequate safety measures in domestic electrical setups.
