Three Bangladeshi Expatriates Die In Saudi Accidents

Three Bangladeshi nationals have lost their lives following two separate road traffic accidents in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Two of the deceased individuals originated from the Uttar Hamchadi area within the Laxmipur Sadar Upazila, whilst the third victim was a resident of the Gouripur region located in the Mymensingh District. The fatal incidents occurred over a 48-hour period spanning Sunday, 31 May, and Monday, 1 June 2026.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Riyadh Province

The first road traffic accident transpired on Sunday night in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. According to local administrators and family sources, two young men from Laxmipur, identified as Harun and Russel, had been residing and working in Saudi Arabia for an extended duration to support their families financially.

The two close friends and neighbours were travelling along a roadway in Riyadh on a motorcycle when their vehicle collided heavily with a camel crossing the path. The impact of the collision inflicted catastrophic injuries upon both riders. Local residents and emergency services arrived at the scene to rescue the victims and transported them to a nearby hospital facility. Upon arrival, the attending medical officers formally pronounced both Harun and Russel dead.

The confirmation of the double fatality caused profound grief among the relatives and community members in their ancestral village in Bangladesh. Harun’s father, Taslim Uddin Chhroyal, expressed his distress regarding the loss, stating that his son had travelled abroad to fulfil the family’s economic aspirations. He made a formal appeal to the Government of Bangladesh to expedite the repatriation of his son’s mortal remains.

Administrative Response and Repatriation Procedures

The local community in Laxmipur has united to demand immediate intervention from the relevant diplomatic authorities to facilitate the return of the bodies. Acknowledging the tragedy, the Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Kathwaipru Marma, issued a statement of condolence to the bereaved families.

The sub-district administrator characterised the premature deaths of the two migrant workers as deeply tragic and assured that the local administration would prioritise the repatriation process. UNO Kathwaipru Marma confirmed that the Upazila administration is prepared to extend comprehensive administrative and logistical cooperation, including processing applications for financial assistance, as soon as the families submit the formal documentation.

Separate Fatal Crash Involving Mymensingh Resident

The second road traffic accident occurred on Monday morning as another Bangladeshi expatriate, Faruk Islam, was commuting to his workplace. Faruk Islam, a resident of Gouripur Upazila in the Mymensingh District, was the son of Abdul Majid Bepari. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Family records indicate that Faruk Islam had been living and working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a continuous period of ten years to sustain his dependents. His last domestic leave to Bangladesh occurred three years prior to the incident. Beyond his personal employment, Faruk Islam played a significant role in creating overseas employment opportunities for the youth of his native area. He had successfully facilitated the migration of several individuals to Saudi Arabia, including his second son, Mahfuzur Rahman, and two of his nephews.

A paternal uncle and neighbour of the deceased, Abdul Razzaq, commended Faruk Islam’s philanthropic character, noting that he frequently provided financial and social assistance to underprivileged residents during his domestic visits. The Gouripur community has expressed deep shock over his sudden demise, and his family is currently coordinating with consular officials to arrange the return of his body for burial.
