The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the probable date for the written examination of the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). According to a notification released on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, the written examination is scheduled to take place on 9 April 2026.
The announcement comes a day after the preliminary results of the 50th BCS were made public. In a bid to complete the entire BCS recruitment process within a single year, the PSC has allocated approximately two months for candidates to prepare for the written stage following their preliminary success.
A total of 12,385 candidates successfully passed the preliminary examination, which had been held on 30 January 2026. The exam was conducted simultaneously across 190 centres located in eight divisional cities: Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh. This comprehensive arrangement allowed candidates from across the country to sit the examination under standardised conditions.
The 50th BCS attracted significant interest, with 290,951 applicants registering to compete for various civil service posts. The PSC has emphasised that all candidates who have passed the preliminary stage must carefully review the official guidelines and instructions prior to the written examination. These include details on examination rules, permitted materials, and reporting times, which are available on the PSC’s official website.
The commission has expressed confidence that, with sufficient preparation time, candidates will be able to perform effectively in the written examination, thereby ensuring a smooth progression to the subsequent viva voce and final selection stages. Candidates are advised to use this period strategically to revise extensively and strengthen their subject knowledge.
