Comilla, Adarsha Sadar Upazila – On Wednesday evening, a local leader of the Youth League and his nephew were seriously injured in a stabbing incident at Kaliar Bazar in Adarsha Sadar Upazila, Comilla. Sources indicate that the attack occurred as the duo attempted to intervene against ongoing local extortion activities. Both victims were immediately admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Tawhidul Anwar, Officer-in-Charge of Comilla Courtwali Model Police Station, confirmed the incident on Thursday, 19 February. “A written complaint has been lodged, and preliminary investigations suggest this may be the result of a longstanding feud between two groups. A detailed report will be released upon completion of the inquiry,” he stated.

Umar Faruk reported that an individual named Masum, operating at the local CNG auto stand, had long been involved in extortion. “When I attempted to prevent Masum’s activities, he and his associates attacked me in front of my house on the evening of 18 February. They used machetes and rods, and when my nephew intervened, he was also targeted,” Umar Faruk said.
Taiful Haque added, “We were standing near our home when the assailants arrived on a motorcycle. They repeatedly struck my cousin and attacked me when I tried to intervene.”
