Woman Found Murdered in Kitchen in Manikchhari

Police in Khagrachhari’s Manikchhari Upazila have recovered the bloodied body of a 41-year-old woman, identified as Ramra Marma, from the kitchen of her residence in the Borobil area. The tragic discovery occurred on Tuesday morning in Ward No. 6 of the Batnatali Union.

Ramra Marma was the mother of three sons and one daughter. According to her daughter, college student Anuma Marma, the previous night unfolded normally. “Around 10:00 pm on Monday, my mother and I had dinner and then went to sleep in our bedroom. The next morning, at approximately 7:30 am, I woke up and noticed my mother was not in the room. I began searching for her,” Anuma recounted.

Her search led her to the kitchen, where she found a bed covered with a blanket. Initially, she saw no one, but upon removing the covering, she discovered her mother’s lifeless body with visible injuries to the head and neck. The sight of her mother’s bloodied condition prompted Anuma to scream for help, drawing nearby residents to the scene. Authorities were immediately notified, and police arrived to secure and recover the body.

The local police have launched an investigation. Manikchhari Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (Investigation), Md. Al Amin, confirmed, “Following the report, police retrieved the body. Preliminary observations suggest that this is a case of homicide. Legal proceedings and investigations are currently ongoing.”

The shocking incident has left the community in grief and fear. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the circumstances of the crime to come forward to aid in the investigation.
