In a tragic turn of events on Thursday morning (12 March), two farmers lost their lives due to lightning strikes in the Dhamairhat and Manda sub-districts of Naogaon. According to local sources and police reports, the victims were working in fields and near water bodies when sudden rainfall was accompanied by severe lightning.

Incident Details
The first fatality occurred in the Bhabir Mor area of Dhamairhat. Locals reported that Jalal Uddin, son of Mokhlesur Rahman, had gone to a pond adjacent to his house to harvest cucumbers. He was struck by lightning on the spot and died instantly. Family members later brought his body home.
The second incident took place in the Chokrampur Madhyapara area near the Eidgah in Manda. Pintu Moslem’s son was working in a paddy field when he was struck by lightning and died immediately. Another individual was seriously injured in the same incident. Residents swiftly transported the injured person to Manda Upazila Health Complex, where doctors reported his condition as stable.
Police and Administrative Response
Officer-in-Charge of Dhamairhat Police Station, Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, stated, “We inspected the scenes immediately after receiving news of the incidents and have begun preliminary investigations.”
Meanwhile, OC Masud Rana of Manda Police Station confirmed, “The injured person is under medical supervision, and his condition is currently stable. We are monitoring the situation closely.”
