Schoolgirl Dies in Road Collision

A tragic road accident in Satkhira Sadar upazila has claimed the life of an 11-year-old schoolgirl, triggering widespread grief and concern over road safety in the locality. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at around 10:00 am in the Bhuluka Chandpur Bazar area of Dhulihar Union, where the victim, Tamanna Khatun, was fatally struck by a fast-moving electric three-wheeler commonly known as an e-bike.

Tamanna Khatun, a sixth-grade student, was the daughter of Abdul Hai, a local resident of the Bhuluka Chandpur Bazar area. According to local accounts, she was crossing the busy market road as part of her routine morning movement when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses reported that an e-bike, allegedly travelling at high speed through the congested marketplace road, struck her with significant force.

The impact left her critically injured on the road. Locals immediately rushed to her aid and attempted to transport her to a nearby medical facility. However, she is believed to have succumbed to her injuries before reaching hospital. Following the collision, the driver of the e-bike reportedly fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind or escaping with it, according to witnesses.

The incident has plunged the entire neighbourhood into mourning. Family members of the deceased were overwhelmed with grief, and the sudden loss of a young child has left the community in shock. Residents expressed deep concern over the lack of traffic regulation in the busy market area, which serves as a key transit point for pedestrians, students, and small vehicles throughout the day.

Local people have alleged that Bhuluka Chandpur Bazar has become increasingly unsafe due to the uncontrolled movement of battery-operated vehicles and the absence of effective traffic monitoring. They stressed that accidents in the area are becoming more frequent, particularly during peak hours when schoolchildren and shoppers share the same narrow road space.

Police from Satkhira Sadar station have confirmed that they visited the scene shortly after the incident. Officer-in-Charge Masudur Rahman stated that initial inquiries are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
