Germany Star Gnabry Ruled Out Injured

With less than two months remaining before the World Cup, four-time champions Germany have suffered a significant setback as forward Serge Gnabry has been ruled out due to injury. The Bayern Munich attacker will miss the tournament after sustaining a serious injury to the adductor muscle in his right thigh.

Gnabry confirmed the development via Instagram, stating that his World Cup participation has effectively ended due to the injury. The 30-year-old had already been sidelined for a recent club fixture, which Bayern Munich won to secure their 13th Bundesliga title. The club had earlier indicated that he could face an extended spell on the sidelines.

Following medical assessments, it has now been confirmed that Gnabry will miss the remainder of the current season. This includes Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League semi-final ties against Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the semi-final of the DFB-Pokal.

In a brief statement, Gnabry said the past few days had been mentally difficult and acknowledged that his aspiration of playing at the World Cup would not be realised. He added that he would continue to support the Germany national team from a distance.

Gnabry has been in strong form this season, recording 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions for Bayern Munich. For Germany, he has made 59 appearances and scored 26 goals. He featured in all group-stage matches at the 2022 World Cup and also played an important role in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
