Four European Titles Near Conclusion

May represents the fifth month of the calendar year, yet in European club football it marks the closing stage of the season. The 2025–26 campaign across major European leagues is scheduled to conclude within the next four weeks, with different competitions finishing on 17 May, 24 May, and 31 May respectively.

However, the identity of several league champions may be determined well before the final matchdays. Within the next two days, four leagues could potentially confirm their title winners. These include Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, Portugal’s Primeira Liga, and Turkey’s Süper Lig.

La Liga

Spain’s top division has completed 33 rounds, with five matches remaining for each side. Barcelona currently lead the table with 85 points, while Real Madrid are second with 74 points.

Barcelona are scheduled to face Osasuna tonight, while Real Madrid will play Espanyol tomorrow. If Barcelona secure a victory and Real Madrid either lose or draw, Barcelona would mathematically secure their 29th La Liga title on the following day.

In that scenario, the gap between the two clubs would increase to either 14 or 12 points, making it impossible for Real Madrid to surpass Barcelona with only four matches remaining. Barcelona already hold an 11-point advantage and also lead in both goal difference and head-to-head records.

Serie A

In Italy’s Serie A, 34 matches have been completed. Inter Milan lead the standings with 79 points, followed by Napoli with 69 points and AC Milan with 67 points. Inter are therefore 10 points ahead of Napoli and 12 points ahead of AC Milan, with four matches remaining.

Inter could secure the title as early as tomorrow if they defeat Parma, who are 12th in the table. A victory would guarantee their 21st league title without reliance on other results.

The title could also be decided tonight depending on other outcomes. If Napoli lose against Como and AC Milan drop points against Sassuolo (either a draw or defeat), Inter would be crowned champions regardless of their own result. If Napoli draw, Inter would only need a draw against Parma. Even if AC Milan win, Inter would require just one point to confirm the title.

Süper Lig

Turkey’s Süper Lig consists of 18 teams, each playing 34 matches. After 31 rounds, Galatasaray lead with 74 points, followed by Fenerbahçe with 67 points.

With a seven-point lead, Galatasaray could secure the championship as early as today. A victory against Samsunspor would confirm the title for Victor Osimhen and his teammates.

Even a draw or defeat may still be sufficient, depending on Fenerbahçe’s result against Başakşehir, which is scheduled at the same time. If both Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe drop points, the current seven-point gap would remain, and Galatasaray would retain their advantage in goal difference. This could result in confirmation of a fourth consecutive league title.

Primeira Liga

In Portugal’s Primeira Liga, Porto lead the table with 82 points from 31 matches. Benfica are second with 75 points, leaving a seven-point gap with three matches remaining.

Porto could secure the title by defeating Alverca. However, their championship may also be confirmed before they take the field, depending on Benfica’s result.

Benfica will play against Famalicão approximately two and a half hours earlier. If Benfica lose that match, Porto will be crowned champions. If Benfica draw, Porto would only need to avoid defeat against Alverca to secure the title.
