Contextual Information
Road safety at railway crossings and regional highways remains a critical concern in the Bogra district. BURO Bangladesh, the organisation Mr Kabir served, is one of the largest microfinance institutions in the country, established in 1990. Branch managers often conduct field visits to rural areas, requiring frequent travel on regional roads. Local authorities have frequently highlighted the risks posed by heavy goods vehicles, such as those carrying fertiliser or industrial goods, to smaller vehicles like motorcycles on these narrow thoroughfares.
