A close associate of a Jatiyatabadi Swechhasebak Dal leader was shot on Sunday morning inside a rented flat within the Chhayanir Residential Area, which sits under the jurisdiction of the Shahmakhdum Police Station in Rajshahi. Faisal Badhon is a permanent resident of the Saheb Bazar locality situated within Rajshahi city. He is widely known to operate as a close personal associate of Mir Tareq, who currently serves as the Convener of the Rajshahi Metropolitan unit of the Jatiyatabadi Swechhasebak Dal—a formal volunteer affiliate wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The two men are regularly observed participating alongside one another in various local political programmes, routinely travelling through the city on the same motorcycle.
Immediately following the shooting incident, Badhon was urgently evacuated from the building and transported to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), where he was admitted for emergency surgical intervention.
Dr Shanker Kumar Biswas, the official spokesperson for Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, provided comprehensive updates regarding the victim’s clinical status to members of the press. He confirmed that the patient arrived at the facility and was formally admitted to Surgery Ward No. 5 at approximately 11:00 BST.

Local neighborhood sources revealed that the five-storey building where the shooting took place is owned by the father of Sayeed Al Marjukh. Sayeed Al Marjukh holds the political position of Vice-President of the New Government Degree College branch of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP. Although the construction of the building’s fifth floor has not been completed, Mir Tareq had rented out a single functional room on that specific level to serve as a regular meeting space.

Subsequent attempts by journalists to contact Sayeed Al Marjukh via his mobile phone for a statement were unsuccessful as the calls went unanswered, while Mir Tareq’s mobile phone has remained entirely switched off.
